SOUL FOOD - ORIGIN:
'Soul' was a common word used to describe African-American culture. At its core, soul food is down-home cooking that's been passed down through many generations, with its roots in the rural South.
Soul food is a delicious and well-loved style of cooking. Soul food is in home cooking style of the rural South. It is a food of local and inexpensive ingredients.
These foods and food-preparation techniques were carried north by African Americans during the Great migration and thus became identified with African American culture .
I refer to it as “soul food.”. It's the things in life that feed our heart and soul, like healthy relationships
GREAT MIGRATION:
The Great Migration was the movement of some six million AFRICAN AMERICANS from rural areas of the SOUTHERN STATES of the UNITED STATES to urban areas in the NORTHERN STATES between 1916 and 1970.
SOUL FOOD CONTAINS:
A great thing about soul food is its variety and diversity. We truly believe that there is something for everyone to love in soul food.
The soul food contains organ meats, processed meats, eggs, fried foods, added fats, and sweetened beverages. Nutrient-rich dishes and leafy greeny vegetables are also staples of soul food.
HAPPINESS WITH SOUL FOOD:
Even our body can produce serotonin, but to do so it needs a protein building material, the tryptophan. It is found in foods such as cheese, eggs, poultry, lean meat, peas, beans, oat flakes, nuts and grains.
